Chapter 4: Missing
Chapter 4
Missing
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING, YOU CANT FIND HER?!”
The loud yelling of the red haired Yumang filled his pointy ear. The little white fairy popped out from his armor from the disturbance.
“Come back here, it was nothing.” the large Tiger-beast said. Its small head nodded in and slips through one his sleeves to hide.
Damn that hot-headed woman. He felt sorry for the guy she was yelling at, the village guard if he wasn’t mistaken. He heard him mumbled every explanation he can think of to the beautiful dominatrix in front of him.
The hangover from the last night’s merriment still lingered in his head. The last thing he remembered was being dragged, literally by the captain from the nearest teleporter to another.
He yawned. A morning at the
“I’ll take care of this.” He tapped the frightened soldier on its shoulder. He courtesy bowed down and walked away.
Meili looked distressed and tired. She hasn’t slept at all since they arrived. Her long fiery red hair that was bound into a ponytail looked partly disheveled, yet even in this dire moment, she still present the regal stature of a noble Wingkin she was once been.
“Still no news MetalFang?” she asked, hands rubbing her temples as she speak.
“Well a pair shoes have been found near the lake, she must be some-“
“Ah, she tried to runaway again, that worthless little brat,” the elder walked passed him followed a tall woman on a green dress “I already told you not to let her out of the village Cai Yi.”
Worthless little brat huh? He was about to pounced the old grumpy man when he saw the furious reaction on Meili’s face, looking at him, ordering him to stop. He already knew how hard for her to hear that how her little sister was treated insignificant, just for the reason that she was fathered by a human. Yet still, it was the village law, they can’t do anything about it while they here.
“Aunt CaiYi, Master Chen,” Meili bowed down politely, “It’s been a long time.”
“Yes, yes, seven years, you didn’t even bother to visit us my dear,” Her aunt approached her with a large smile on her face and gave her a hug.” Don’t about her that much, she is not as frail as you think,” She whispered.
“This must be the Yaoshu you are always writing about,” Cai Yi turned to him, casually ignoring the Elder who are scowling behind her, “MetalFang is that right?”
“Yes, my lady,” he gallantly took her hand and bent over to kiss the back,” It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
She threw a quite mischievous smile on her niece. “Charmed.”
Heh, a soldier must a be gentleman sometimes, he thought. His large yellow eyes fixed on Meili’s embarrassed, yet pleasant face.
Then he heard it. It was faint yet seemed not far from the village, the Dragon’s Roar.

He clenched his jaw as they walked through the grassy bank of the lake. The girl insisted on walking to the Bamboo village, although he knew he can take her there in no time with his flying sword. Though he much preferred the latter, he agreed to walk, just to prevent further conflict. She slapped him, who could have known that this girl can hit that hard. It felt some of his skin inside his cheek was torn. Well at least all of his teeth are still intact. The sound of it still resonated in his ears. It’s not that he’s never slapped before, he have endured every kind of pain, torture is part of their training, it’s just, being hit by her was something different.
“Are you in pain?” the girl stopped walking. She was just a few steps ahead of him.
“No, I’m alright.” Ryu answered immediately, ignoring the pain caused by the sudden movement of his jaw. She was fully dress now, except for her shoes, she was walking on barefoot on the ground. Thank the gods that her clothes dried up overnight. The knee length qibao that was dyed yellow, the same color of her hair, fits in her perfectly.
She walked back to him with effortless poise and grace. Do all the Wingkin walked that way? He mused.
The girl’s hand reached his swollen jaw and touched it gently with her fingers. He felt as slight electricity passed though them. She was healing him.
“Please forgive my imprudence,” she said gently with her soft voice, “I wasn’t my intent to harm the one who saved my life.”
Ryu was
speechless. It was the longest string of word he heard from her, and probably
most pleasant thing he ever heard in his life, the fact that a few moments ago,
she was trying to kill him. At least he had convinced her about what happened.
That he needed to take off her wet dress because she was freezing to death, and
how he used his own body to warm her. He needed used the Dragon’s Roar to make
her paralyzed for a while, just to stop her from attacking him, but that was
after the back of her hand struck him hard on his left cheek Or maybe she was just pretending to be nice
so she can attack him unprepared?
“Is there anything wrong with my face, mister...?”
He didn’t noticed that he was starring at her, her eyes seemed to glow with their innocence yet something in them felt sad, and lonely.
“Ryu, my name is Ryu. No it’s…,” he touched his cheek, the pain is gone completely. ”Perfect.”
The girl turned around, giving him a slight glimpse of her blushing face.
“I am actually not allowed to heal,” she said, “It would be best if someone with a real knowledge to see that.” She continued walking to the direction of their village.
“Not allowed to heal, huh? Quite intriguing.” he thought.
Why does
she sound so…formal?
“Um… miss can you tell me your name,” all the while, he forgot to ask her that.
“Oh, I forgot, how rude of me, my name is…”
The sound of flapping wings filled the air as beautiful red head Wingkin landed before them.
“Lien!”
